Chiesa, Di Canio and Bergomi reveal everything? "They are negotiating, don't be clever"

Debate and discussion, at the Sky Sport Club, on the Juventus topic, especially on the future of the winger with the curious sketch between the two former footballers

"Has Juve improved at this point?" Fabio Caressa's question during the Sky Sport Club is the one that all Juventus fans are asking themselves. From the end of last season to the start of the new one, there has also been a revolution between the bench and the squad . Thiago Motta has taken Allegri 's place , while Giuntoli has cooked up several situations on the market and others could arrive. Douglas Luiz, Di Gregorio, Cabal, Kheprhen Thuram are the new arrivals at the moment, but the work is not finished yet and other names are in the works such as Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez , Kalulu . In short, a profound change between incomings and outgoings. There is a lot of anticipation to see the Bianconeri in action with the new style of play and the ideas of the Italian-Brazilian coach. It will certainly take time to assimilate the concepts. The pre-season was tough, the team worked at high intensity and is now ready to show on the pitch everything it has accumulated in a month and a half. To answer the question, however, is not at all simple, but some former footballers have thought about having their say on the Bianconeri.

Marchegiani's doubts and Bergomi's words

Luca Marchegiani was the first to answer the question . The former goalkeeper expressed some of his doubts about the improvements, compared to last year, of Juve : " In my opinion, no. Compared to the discussions we had last year, where there was still Pogba who seemed to be doing well... I don't know. For me it's a one-off year for Juventus too , but Motta has shown that he is a good coach. When a cycle is born he gives you a lot because he shapes the team , or rather he has this possibility. Then there are interesting players: Cabal has shown interesting things but he comes from Verona".

" They have made some difficult and questionable choices - said Beppe Bergomi - we also talked about it, but they are all rowing in the same direction and it seems to me, from the outside, that even the fans agree with the path taken . Where can the coach have an impact? I saw Thuram in front of the defense who can grow a lot. Douglas Luiz and Locatelli further forward. We need to understand what he can develop with Vlahovic because in the friendlies I saw him come towards us but it's not his game and he struggles". Di Canio then analyzed the situation more specifically ...

Di Canio: "Difficult but at the same time it fascinates me"

"I think what Bergomi says is interesting - Di Canio began -. Because Motta showed us some situations like Cambiaso becoming a playmaker . From the outside, seeing the characteristics of the player, I find it difficult that he can become a refined player and dictate the tempo . Maybe he keeps him there to free up the other more technical players. You know, you lose the ball and you have a fast player ready to come in and close down. I don't know, I'm trying to look at the different solutions because thinking about the positive fact, that is, possession, I find it difficult" .

He then moved on to talk about Douglas Luiz : " I'm not crazy about him as an attacking midfielder even though he has the creativity of the Brazilian but he's not quick and fast. He grew up in Aston Villa over the five years: from a midfielder in front of the defence to a winger who runs in to accompany the action. As an attacking midfielder, that 's not really his role . I really like him but not in that role. He's trying it out there, maybe he's making some attempts. It's not easy but at the same time I'm fascinated by watching Motta's Juve and understanding how he'll be able to play . " Then the skit on Chiesa's future...

Future Chiesa, the Di Canio-Bergomi skit

A topic that sparked a debate in the studio was the Federico Chiesa situation , on which Motta expressed himself clearly in the conference. And the first to analyze it was  Bergomi: "Let's talk about a sense of belonging. If they offered him to extend his contract, he earns 5 and I'll give you 3, why don't you accept?" . Caressa immediately responded: "Exactly, the salaries must be reduced. It's the market..." .

While Marchegiani explained his line: "No, no, I don't agree, that's a different matter... Why should he extend his contract? He does his job until the end, like it happens in all European teams, and he plays. If you want to sell him first, you do it... You shouldn't give the message that the player is renewing or sitting out in the stands" . A more technical speech for Di Canio : "It seems clear to me, Motta also made it clear, that Chiesa doesn't fit into the coach's way of playing. At that point I'll take 25 million, we'll burden the contract and take a more functional player" . But in the end, what made people think about the winger's future was the little exchange between Di Canio and Bergomi: " They're negotiating, you know that, uncle (Bergomi, ed.), don't be a smart aleck... " . A slight smile from the former Inter captain and the response: "Yes, now it's a breakup, Chiesa will go where he thinks fit"
