LIVE REPORT: Calcopoli

Luciano Moggi's story begins with a secret meeting taking place in Milan, revealed today by former referee designator Paolo Bergamo, one of the men involved in the storm of Calciopoli.

- Is it true that Berlusconi also told you that you were wiretapped?

- Yes, he said to me: look, there are some interceptions but there is nothing criminal about them... so the problem doesn't arise.

According to the ex-designator of the referees Paolo Bergamo, the turnaround aimed to blow up Moggi, Bettega and Giraudo because they were close to Umberto Agnelli and his son Andrea, while the Agnelli family wanted John Elkann to lead.

On May 12, 2006, the Naples prosecutor entered 41 people in the register of suspects. In addition to Luciano Moggi there are the leaders of the Football Federation, the president Franco Carraro and the vice president Innocenzo Mazzini, some sports managers and numerous referees.

"What did winning a World Cup mean for a nation that thrives on football? It was a fantastic thing. After all, it wasn't the first time it coincided with something that wasn't so nice."

"Berlusconi looks at Pisanu and says: minister, call Carraro, the referees must be fair towards Cagliari and must stop… And Franco Pisanu said: no, I'll call Moggi which is better. Berlusconi looked at me… he turned white".

"Moggi didn't give me ballots but in that historical period the idea was born that we were intercepted. Pairetto brought me a ballot and said: look at this ballot. Moggi gave it to me. When we need to talk about referees maybe we use the form"

"I lost a match against Milan due to a referee error. I went after the match to say hello to the referee at San Siro and he said to me: tell Luciano [Moggi] eh. Then I realized that with that victory Milan reached Juve at the top of the table."

"There have been other cases where managers have come to the locker room [to complain]. It's not like you're pointing out there like a schoolteacher"

"I say, look, if Collina were there it wouldn't be a problem because if Collina makes a mistake, no one says anything. Rodomonti is a referee who doesn't have a great reputation... for God's sake, if Rodomonti goes and makes a mistake against Inter, a mess will happen". Franco Carraro - 11/28/2004

Villar Perosa is a town of 4,000 inhabitants on the slopes of the Alps. At the top of the town is the villa where Gianni Agnelli and his wife Marella lived. Even today, twenty years after his death, the community lives on in the lawyer's memory and venerates him as an institution.

Marella Caracciolo, widow of the lawyer Gianni Agnelli, at the moment of her death bequeathed the entire estate to her grandchildren Elkann, Lapo, Ginevra and John and nothing to her daughter Margherita. The result is a judicial dispute before the magistrates of the court of Turin.
