Pogba, the trial postponed: request from lawyers granted

The time for the judgment on the doping positivity of the French is lengthened: when can the hearing arrive

Pogba, the defensive strategy

The request for postponement of the date of the trial for doping carried out by Paul Pogba's lawyers was granted: it was established that the hearing will take place no earlier than the second half of February. Pending a new date, the defense will be able to better organize its thesis. In this regard, Pogba, before the National Anti-Doping Tribunal (Tna), will seek to demonstrate the 'unintentionality' of taking the prohibited substance: this strategy would make it possible to halve the penalty. In addition to the lawyers, some English persents are also expected in the courtroom. The Frenchman, after the sentence, will still be able to appeal to the Tas and then, possibly, to the Swiss Federal Court.

Disqualify Pogba, the previous one

Paul Pogba has always declared himself innocent on charges of doping and, for this reason, he never called for the plea bargain. It is mainly for this reason that the Public Prosecutor's Office asked for him for 4 years of disqualification, the maximum sentence. The French midfielder and his lawyers immediately supported the thesis of involuntary intake of a Dhea-contaminated supplement, and never took a step back. The proceedings will not be at all quick and so far it has already forced the Bianconero to a three-month stop.

The most recent precedent brings us back to the 14 infernal months lived by Palomino, the defender of Atalanta. The Argentine had been found positive for Clostebol Metabolita in July 2022; suspended for 4 months, was then acquitted in November 2022 by the Tna. In the meantime, however, the central has missed the opportunity to become world champion with Argentina ... Palomino was then definitively acquitted by the Tas of Lausanne in September 2023.

Pogba disqualified, Juve reaction

Following the Coni anti-doping Prosecutor's request for 4 years of disqualification - the maximum penalty provided in these cases - Pogba showed himself relaxed on the sides of Dubai with tennis player Rublev and former teammate Pjanic. Meanwhile, Juventus has followed what is provided for in the protocol, for which it has suspended the payment of the agreed salary for the four years of contract (about 9 million euros per season) from the day on which the counter-analyses of October 6 confirmed the positivity of the Frenchman, found on 11 September. Now the Bianconeri society, before moving further, will wait for the ruling of the National Anti-Doping Tribunal, which will take place no earlier than mid-February.
