Superleague, Juventus leaves: 'exit has started'

The Juventus club announced the decision with an official statement

Now it's official, Juventus has decided to abandon the Superleague project. After the announcement of 2021 that made UEFA tremble with the idea of starting the new project for a new competition with 12 clubs from all over Europe, the Bianconeri club announced that it will not continue to support the initiative.


This is the statement from Juventus: "Following the press release of June 6, 2023, with which Juventus had announced that it had started a period of discussion with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona (clubs that until then had not announced their intention to leave the Super Lega project) regarding the proposed decision of Juventus to leave the Super Lega Project, the following is announced".


Juventus, goodbye Superlega

The different visions with respect to the two Spanish clubs, among the major promoters of the Superleague, led Juventus to start the process of abandoning the project. The Bianconeri note reads: "Following these discussions, and taking into account some differences on the interpretation of the agreements applicable to the Super Lega Project, Juventus confirms that it has started the procedure for leaving the aforementioned Project, while recalling that, pursuant to the applicable contractual provisions, the prior consent of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and the other clubs involved in the Super Lega Project is Developments are now awaited with the long-awaited decision of the European Court of Justice which could lead to three different scenarios.
