TV rights, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa by private negotiation: low offers

The League wants more resources: De Siervo's proposal passes

The Serie A League also moves on to private negotiations for the TV rights of the Italian Cup and the Super Cup. It was foreseeable that Rai and Mediaset would not reach the minimum set by the call at 62 million. A demand higher of 14 million to the 48 per season paid by Mediaset in the three-year period 2021-24.

The League has tried to raise the price substantially to sit at the table in the wake of the change in the format of the Super Cup that, from next season, will be awarded at the end of a final-four. The first edition is part of the current cycle, so it will be broadcast by Mediaset without the need to increase the compensation agreed with the League. But from the next round the clubs intend to monetize the change that guarantees two more cartel challenges to the holders of the TV rights of the competition. Rai and Mediaset, however, did not consider going up to 62 million. According to rumors, they would have stopped between 50 and 55.

TV rights, we move on to private negotiations

The aer of Serie A, Luigi De Siervo, at the beginning of the assembly in video link scheduled yesterday, communicated that the offers contained in the envelopes delivered two days ago did not reach the minimum and therefore asked the clubs if they intended to move on to private negotiations. Yes, yes from executives. However, the time to start these negotiations has not been established. First Serie A intends to close the practice of national TV rights of the post 2024 championship. Coppa Italia and Supercoppa will therefore be back on the agenda in September. The League is expected to return to meet in the assembly on July 26 or 27.
